My Story Can Help You
How I Became a Coach Who Understands the Struggle
I could give you a polished, surface-level version of my life, but that wouldn’t be honest. The truth is, life has kicked me in the teeth more than once. The challenges I’ve faced weren’t just minor speed bumps—they were deep, hidden, and often felt entirely mine alone. But facing those struggles is exactly what allows me to meet you where you are today.
Navigating a World with ADHD Before I Had a Name for It
Growing up, I was raised by an incredible solo mother who took care of six children after losing the love of her life at age 33. We were financially poor, but we were rich in love and community. I learned early on that if I wanted something, I had to work for it.
But school was an uphill battle. I started first grade at age five, always the smallest kid in the room. Studying was agonizing. It took me four or five repetitions to understand a concept that others grasped on the first or second try. If I focused intensely on one topic for a week to pass a test, five other areas fell behind. I used to joke that while everyone else had 24 hours in a day, I needed 30 hours—without sleep—just to stay even.
I didn’t receive my official diagnosis until college. Before that, I just lived with the crushing feeling that I was a step behind.
Finding My Strength in Coaching
Because of my struggles, I fell in love with individual sports like swimming and running. In those sports, I knew my work ethic could level the playing field. That passion eventually led me into a career as a swim coach.
I wasn’t just teaching people how to move through water; I was coaching human beings who used swimming as a canvas to paint incredible pictures of their lives. I helped athletes achieve excellence on the international stage.
But behind the scenes, my own life was a chaotic mess. Classic ADHD meant I lacked organizational skills and constantly flew by the seat of my pants. I accepted coaching jobs that took my family across the United States, jumping at what seemed like great opportunities without looking at the details. Because I trusted the wrong people, my impulsivity and lack of structure cost my family hundreds of thousands of dollars. I always left programs better than I found them, but my family paid a heavy price.
The Turning Point: Getting Help and Beating Cancer
Old habits die hard. I was constantly helping, coaching, and advising others, but I was drowning in my own lack of structure. Then, life threw the ultimate curveball: I was diagnosed with cancer.
I realized I could no longer “outwork” my problems and survive. I needed help, and I needed a career aligned with my absolute strengths. When I finally shared my dream of becoming a life coach, all my friends had the exact same reaction: “Duh. You’ve been doing that your entire life.”
To reduce my stress and fight cancer, I had to make a change. But I couldn’t do it alone. Finding a coach of my own to help me find clarity and purpose completely changed my life. Working with someone who understood my specific pains and experiences gave me the perspective and solutions I couldn’t find on my own.
How I Can Help You
Today, I am blessed to use my lifetime of experience to dramatically affect the lives of others.
As a swim coach, I guided athletes to perform on the world stage. As a life coach, I do the exact same thing: I partner with individuals—especially those navigating the unique, chaotic, and beautiful challenges of ADHD—to turn what feels like an unattainable dream into a structured reality.
I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by a world that isn’t built for the way your brain works. I know the pain of flying by the seat of your pants, and I know the immense power of finally getting the right support.
If you are ready to find answers to your challenges, gain clarity, and build a process that works for you, let’s talk.
